Birthday Party Bliss!

I've obviously been out of touch with reality lately! 5 13 year olds is quite the interesting experience! After a day of cleaning and preparation, I'm sitting in the quiet - out in the garage! ;) Even Perywingkl, our patient cat, has resorted to sitting outside, there's just too much noise. Nothing like 5 happy girls!!!! :)

I wonder how much work I'm going to get done tonight???

The party was an absolute success! I was very happy to hear the reviews the next day. :) Two girls were able to stay for the sleep-over while the other two left around 10pm. I ended up working in the garage while the party was in full swing. They had the living room set up to watch movies, mattresses to sleep on and space for Wii. I'm glad she opted for the 'home' party, and afterward, I think she was too.

And just think of how lucky she is to even want to have a party! Sadly enough there are teenagers who don't have any friends to celebrate their birthdays with. It's a tough age...

Congratulations, anyway! :) But I'm sure she'll remember hugs and kisses for a while yet. If not always in public... ;)

I know, things really seem to be getting difficult. "Friends" are occupied with activities and family with very little time left over for any kind of childhood fun. Sad really when kids cannot be kids. Her core group of friends shift each year as they have 6 classes per grade, but on the positive side of things, they get to know more people and it will give them a feel for what High School is going to be like. You have to 'make' time to find and be with your friends. I don't remember how we did it, it was just the way it was. I can't recall any times where I thought I wouldn't have friends, I just found new ones if the old ones chose a different road.

So maybe it isn't as tough as we think it is, for the kids these days? They might be doing what we did - adjust to whatever happens. I mean, it's their reality, they don't know any different. Maybe it's just us not comprehending how any young teenager would survive todays challenges?
